What is TruePulse? A Complete Overview of the Platform

TruePulse in one place: anonymous pulse surveys, engagement analytics, and Slack-native peer recognition — how the pieces fit together and what problem each one solves.

TruePulse is a two-module platform for understanding and improving the employee experience: anonymous pulse surveys for measuring how people feel, and Slack-native Kudos & Recognition for building a visible culture of appreciation. Both run on the same workspace, the same employee directory, and the same login — designed to give HR and people teams a complete, real-time picture without stitching together three different vendors.

Module 1: Pulse Surveys

At the core of TruePulse is short, frequent, genuinely anonymous employee surveying. A few things set it apart from a generic form builder:

Anonymity is architectural, not a setting. Responses are stripped of identifying data the moment they're submitted — enforced at the database level. No admin, engineer, or support staff can link a response back to an individual. This is the single biggest factor in whether employees answer honestly, and it's the foundation everything else is built on. Read more about how anonymity works.

Validated question library. Rather than guessing at question wording, TruePulse ships with 100–1,000+ questions (depending on plan) organised across dimensions like psychological safety, manager effectiveness, career growth, recognition, and wellbeing — written to avoid the leading, double-barrelled, or ambiguous phrasing that produces unreliable data. See our 50 best engagement survey questions for a sample.

Segment analytics. An overall score of 3.8/5 tells you almost nothing. TruePulse breaks results down by department, team, location, and custom tags — with a minimum group-size threshold enforced automatically so segment views never risk exposing an individual's response.

Campaign automation. Build a campaign once — audience, survey, cadence, invitation copy — and save it as a reusable template. Smart Send delivers each invitation at 9am in the recipient's own timezone, which matters enormously for distributed teams. Automatic reminders go out to non-respondents without any manual follow-up.

AI-assisted question suggestions and translation. When building a survey, TruePulse can suggest relevant questions based on your goals, and translate surveys into French, German, and Spanish (with more languages on the way) so multilingual teams get the same quality experience in their own language.

Two flagship survey types ship out of the box: monthly pulse surveys for ongoing monitoring, and engagement surveys for deeper, less frequent deep-dives — see our guide on when to use which.

Module 2: Kudos & Recognition

The second module is peer recognition, built natively into Slack rather than as a separate app employees have to remember to open. Type /pulse kudos, pick a teammate and a category, add a short message, and send — optionally posting publicly to a shared Slack channel so the whole team sees it. Admins get a live leaderboard of top givers, top receivers, and trending categories via /pulse dashboard or the web dashboard.

Categories start with six defaults (Teamwork, Leadership, Innovation, Customer Focus, Above & Beyond, Problem Solving) and are fully customisable to match your organisation's actual values. Read the full Kudos guide, or see how it compares to points-based platforms like Bonusly and Nectar.

Why both modules live in one workspace

Surveys and recognition are usually sold as separate products by separate vendors — which means the data never talks to each other. TruePulse deliberately keeps them on one tenant, one employee directory, one login, one bill. The practical benefit: when a team's engagement survey shows a dip in the "I feel recognised for my contributions" question, you can look at that same team's kudos activity in the same dashboard and see immediately whether recognition genuinely isn't happening, or whether it's happening but isn't visible enough. That cross-referencing is impossible when the two live in different tools.

Built for HR teams specifically, not general-purpose

Every design decision in TruePulse — the anonymity architecture, the segment thresholds, the validated question library, the Slack-native recognition — comes from the same premise: employee feedback tools are not the same problem as customer feedback tools or generic form-building, and treating them as interchangeable produces bad data and low trust. See how this plays out concretely against general-purpose alternatives: TruePulse vs SurveyMonkey, vs Google Forms, vs Typeform.
